The Firehouse Five Plus Twoの演奏が好きだ。
彼らは、1949年から1972年まで活動していたディキシーランドの ジャズ バンドで、ディズニーのアニメーション部門のメンバーで構成されていた。もちろん音楽については素人である。
リーダーはウォード・キンボール（Ward Kimball ）でトロンボーンを担当し、フランク・トーマス（Frank Thomas ）はピアノを演奏していた。
”ファイヤーハウス”（消防署）というモチーフは、キンボールが地元の”Horseless Carriage Club”のためにAmerican LaFrances社の1916年型消防車を復元したことから来ている。そして”Plus Two” の由来はバンドに7人いたからである。
ウォルト・ディズニーはバンドを承認して、会社のクリスマスパーティーやディズニーランド、その他の社交行事で、スタジオでの仕事を完全に辞めることは決してないという条件で演奏をさせていた。
本業をもっている彼らが、それとは別に音楽を楽しみながら高めようとしている姿勢は聴いている方も楽しくなる。
